Account & API key
Create an account, issue a Minecraft API key, understand the monthly limit, and bring your own provider keys.
The mod needs a key so the backend knows whose usage to count. Keys are created on the
website and pasted into the game once with /login.
Create an account
Sign up
Go to mine-yapper.com and create an account with your email and a password.
Verify your email
Email verification is required — click the link in the message before signing in. If it does not arrive, check spam, then request a new one from the login page.
Optionally link Twitch
Linking a Twitch account raises your monthly allowance by 1.5× (100 → 150 requests). It grants nothing else.
Create a Minecraft API key
Open Dashboard → Account, find Minecraft API keys, and press Create key.
Shown once
The full key is displayed exactly once. Copy it right away. If you lose it, revoke it and create a new one — there is no way to read it back.
Then join any world (singleplayer is fine) and run:
/login my_YOUR_KEY_HEREOn success the mod replies MineYapping login saved. and writes the key to
config/mine-yapping.json in your Minecraft folder.
Key hygiene
- Create a separate key per computer so you can revoke one device without breaking the others.
- Revoke a key any time under Dashboard → Account. The next request from that computer fails immediately.
- Keys are stored hashed on the server. Support will only ever ask for the visible key prefix and your account email — never the full key.
- Never paste a key into server chat, Discord, a screenshot, or a bug report.
Monthly limit
| Requests / month | |
|---|---|
| Standard account | 100 |
| Twitch-linked account | 150 |
Details:
- One request = one mob reply — voice, typed chat, a reaction, or ambient chatter.
- Only successful requests count. Failures are recorded but do not consume the allowance.
- The counter resets at the start of each UTC calendar month, not 30 days after signup.
- Over the limit, the mod shows
Conversation failed (402): Monthly free usage limit reached. Nothing breaks — the allowance simply returns next month. - AI credits cover requests past the limit. They grant no features and no extra allowance — just the requests themselves.
Your current usage is on Dashboard: requests this month, BYOK requests, AI tokens, and spoken characters.
Bring your own keys
If you want to run without the monthly allowance, save your own provider keys under Dashboard → Account → Bring your own provider keys:
- An OpenAI API key (transcription + replies)
- An ElevenLabs API key (speech)
Both are encrypted at rest and never shown again. While they are set, your requests are billed to your provider accounts and do not consume the free allowance — they are counted separately as BYOK requests on the dashboard.
Press Remove key to go back to the free tier.
Language
Mine Yapping ships in Finnish by default. The dashboard language setting also controls the language of the mob replies and the mod's own chat messages, so one switch covers everything.
The mod re-checks the setting when you start talking, at most every 5 minutes — so a change takes effect without restarting the game.
AI credits
Every request costs us real money in speech recognition, language model tokens, and speech synthesis. Credits are how you pay for requests beyond the free allowance.
| 1 credit | 1 request |
| Expiry | Never |
| Spent | Only after the monthly free allowance runs out |
| Unlocks | Nothing — every feature is free |
Packs are bought under Dashboard → Account, through Polar as merchant of record. Prices include VAT. A request that fails returns its credit automatically.
Two limits keep one request from costing more than one credit: input audio is capped at 20 seconds and a spoken reply at 200 characters. Personalities that ask for long answers get truncated rather than billed extra.
You never need credits: the free allowance renews monthly, and your own provider keys or self-hosting remove the limit entirely at no charge.
Refund policy and legal terms are linked in the site footer.
Deleting your account
Email the support address in the site footer from your account email. Conversation personas, API keys, sessions, and usage events are deleted; purchase records are retained for six years as Finnish bookkeeping law requires.
Privacy
- Audio and transcripts are not stored. They are streamed through to the providers and discarded.
- Usage events record counts and timings only — no audio, no text.
- Conversation memory (the last 4 turns per mob) lives in the server's memory and is gone on restart.
