Mine Yapping

Installation

Full install guide — requirements, Fabric, the mods folder on every OS, updating, and uninstalling.

This is the detailed version of the Quickstart. Follow it if you have never installed a Minecraft mod, or if the quick path did not work.

Requirements

Requirement
GameMinecraft: Java Edition 1.21.11
LoaderFabric Loader 0.19.3 or newer
LibraryFabric API matching your Minecraft version (0.141.6+1.21.11 for 1.21.11)
Java21+ — the Fabric profile uses the runtime the launcher ships, so you normally do not install anything
OSWindows or Linux desktop; macOS desktop using Prism Launcher
HardwareA working microphone and audio output
AccountA free account on mine-yapper.com

Not supported

Bedrock Edition (Windows Store, consoles, mobile) cannot run Fabric mods. Android / PojavLauncher is also unsupported: microphone capture uses javax.sound.sampled, which has no working mixer on the Android OpenJDK builds those launchers ship. Forge and NeoForge are not supported either — this is a Fabric mod.

macOS requires Prism Launcher

The official Minecraft Launcher for macOS lacks the audio-input entitlement needed to show a microphone permission prompt. Use Prism Launcher for voice input. A Fabric mod cannot add this permission to the official launcher.

1. Install Fabric Loader

Install Fabric

On Windows or Linux, download the official Fabric installer and run it. Choose Minecraft version 1.21.11, leave the loader version at the latest, and click Install.

On macOS, install Prism Launcher, choose Add Instance, select Minecraft 1.21.11 and Fabric, then create the instance.

Launch the profile once

Start the new fabric-loader-1.21.11 profile or Prism instance once. This creates the folders the mod needs. Then close Minecraft.

2. Add Fabric API

Fabric API is a separate mod that Mine Yapping depends on. Download the jar matching your Minecraft version from fabricmc.net/develop or Fabric API's official Modrinth page. For Minecraft 1.21.11 that is fabric-api-0.141.6+1.21.11.jar or newer.

If Fabric API is missing, the game shows a "requires fabric-api" error screen at startup and does not launch.

3. Download the mod

Get mineyapping.jar from GitHub Releases:

https://github.com/JoniJuntto/mine-yapping/releases/latest/download/mineyapping.jar

That link always points at the newest release. The release page also has a versioned copy (mineyapping-<version>.jar) and SHA-256 checksums.

Download the jar, not the "Source code (zip/tar.gz)" archive — the source archive is not installable. Only install jars from this repository's releases or from the Mine Yapping website.

4. Put both jars in mods

Press Win + R, paste %APPDATA%\.minecraft and press Enter.

%APPDATA%\.minecraft\mods

Rules:

  • Create the mods folder if it does not exist.
  • The jars go directly in mods — not in a subfolder, not zipped.
  • Delete any older mineyapping-*.jar so only one version is installed.
  • Using MultiMC / Prism / CurseForge / Modrinth App? Use that instance's own mods folder instead of the default one above.

5. Verify it loaded

Start Minecraft with the Fabric profile or Prism instance. On the title screen, Mods should list MineYapping. If your OS asks for microphone permission, allow it.

macOS microphone permission

Prism Launcher prompts for microphone access when the mod first records. Allow it. If you previously denied it, enable Prism Launcher under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone, then restart Prism and Minecraft.

6. Connect your account

Create a key at Dashboard → Account → Minecraft API keys, join a world, and run:

/login my_YOUR_KEY_HERE

Full details, including limits and revoking keys, are in Account & API key.

Updating

  1. Download the new mineyapping.jar.
  2. Delete the old jar from mods.
  3. Drop the new one in.

Your config/mine-yapping.json — and therefore your login — is left alone, so you do not need to run /login again.

Uninstalling

Delete mineyapping.jar from mods. To remove your saved key as well, delete config/mine-yapping.json, and revoke the key under Dashboard → Account.

Playing on servers

Mine Yapping is client-only. It talks to the Mine Yapping backend over HTTPS, never to the Minecraft server, so:

  • It works on vanilla and modded multiplayer servers with only you having it installed.
  • Nobody else sees the transcript or hears the replies.
  • Servers with strict anti-cheat may still ban client mods by policy — check the server rules. The mod does not modify gameplay, movement, or rendering.
