FAQ

Is it free? Yes. The mod is free and open source, and the hosted service gives every account 100 requests a month (150 with Twitch linked). Optional AI credits buy extra requests once that allowance runs out; they unlock no features. Bringing your own provider keys, or self-hosting, stays free and unlimited.

Do I need to install anything on my Minecraft server? No. The mod is client-only and never talks to the Minecraft server. It works on vanilla and modded servers with only you having it installed.

Will other players hear the mobs? No. Transcripts and replies are local to your client. Only you see the chat lines and only you hear the audio.

Can I get banned for it? It does not modify gameplay, movement, or rendering, and sends nothing to the Minecraft server — but some servers ban client mods by policy. Check the server rules.

Does it work on Bedrock / on my phone / on a console? No. Java Edition on a desktop only. Android and PojavLauncher are unsupported because microphone capture has no working audio mixer there.

Forge or NeoForge? No — Fabric only.

Which launcher should I use on macOS? Prism Launcher. The official Minecraft Launcher cannot request the microphone permission needed for voice input. Typed chat still works without a microphone.

Do I need a microphone? No. Typed chat near a mob works exactly like speaking to it.

Which Minecraft versions? Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.11.

Is my voice recorded or stored? No. Audio and transcripts are streamed through and discarded. Usage records contain counts and timings only.

Can I use my own OpenAI / ElevenLabs account? Yes — save your keys under Dashboard → Account. Those requests do not touch the free allowance. See Bring your own keys.

Can I run the whole backend myself? Yes, it is in the same repository. See Self-hosting.

Can I change what a mob sounds like? Voices are assigned randomly per mob and are sticky. You control how it talks with personalities; to re-roll a voice, delete the personality it is using.

What language does it speak? Finnish by default, English if you switch the language in the dashboard. That one setting covers the website, the mob replies, and the mod's own messages.

How many requests does a session use? One per reply — including reactions and ambient chatter. Ambient chatter rolls every 30 seconds at a 50% chance by default, so turn it down with speechChance if you are watching your allowance.

Does the limit roll over? No. It resets at the start of each UTC calendar month.
