Quickstart
From nothing to talking to a cow in about ten minutes.
The short version. If any step goes wrong, the long version is in Installation and every error message is listed in Troubleshooting.
Install Fabric
On Windows or Linux, download and run the Fabric installer, pick Minecraft 1.21.11, and install. On macOS, install Prism Launcher and create a Minecraft 1.21.11 instance with Fabric—the official Minecraft Launcher cannot request microphone access.
Then download the matching Fabric API jar from
the Fabric API downloads page — you need version
0.141.6+1.21.11 or newer for 1.21.11.
Drop in the jars
Download mineyapping.jar:
https://github.com/JoniJuntto/mine-yapping/releases/latest/download/mineyapping.jarPut it and the Fabric API jar into your mods folder:
%APPDATA%\.minecraft\modsCreate the folder if it does not exist.
Get an API key
Sign up at mine-yapper.com, then open Dashboard → Account → Minecraft API keys → Create key.
Copy the key immediately — it is shown only once.
Log in from the game
Launch the Fabric profile or Prism instance, join any world, and type:
/login my_YOUR_KEY_HEREYou should see MineYapping login saved. The key is stored locally in
config/mine-yapping.json.
/login is a client command — it never reaches the Minecraft server. Still, never
paste your key into normal chat, Discord or screenshots.
Talk to a mob
Walk up to any living mob, hold V, say something, and release.
You should see, in order:
| Chat line | Meaning |
|---|---|
Listening to Cow... (aqua) | Recording started |
Thinking... (gray) | Your turn was sent |
You: hello there (dark gray) | What the server heard |
Cow: Moo? Oh — hello! (gold) | The reply, also spoken aloud |
That's it
